EVA IVANOV : APRIL - JUNE 2017
Eva Ivanov applies her life-long fascination with water and light to create watercolour originals that celebrate relationships of space, colour and movement in the natural world. Her more recent renderings explore the use of various watercolour paints on specialty papers, and while utilizing water and pigments to start a gentle dance, artistic input creates a journey to expressionism landscapes, abstracts and subtle imagery.
Ivanov has been the recipient of several awards in juried exhibitions in the GTHA, past member of Toronto Watercolour Society, member of Central Ontario Artists Association (COAA), Associate Member of Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour (CSPWC), Franklin Carmichael Group, CARFAC, Woman's Art Association of Hamilton, and Hamilton Artists Inc. and Centre 3 Print Media. In 2012 an lifestyle change enabled her to move to downtown Hamilton to open her own Gooderham Gallery Studio which is also a short walk to her other favourite pastime - sailing Lake Ontario.
With a background passion in theatre, and being an award winning director and designer, Ivanov embraces those skills to instil a disciplined sense of composition, colour and visuals to evoke emotion from collectors and audiences of her art. An evocative body of work is on display at Gooderham Gallery Studio on Catharine Street North, and at various other venues around Hamilton from time to time.
